With 70 years of history, the Galrão Group is a leader in the extraction, transformation, and commercialization of natural stones, blending tradition with innovation and excellence. Founded in 1955, our journey began with the rich marbles of Estremoz and Vila Viçosa, setting us apart with the exclusivity of these premium materials. Today, our portfolio extends beyond marble to include limestone, granite, porcelain stoneware, and quartz, offering a diverse selection that enhances projects worldwide.
Our deep knowledge of stone characteristics and origins allows us to curate a unique range of exotic and exclusive materials. Exported globally, our stones are available in blocks, slabs, tiles, or custom-made pieces, always ensuring the highest standards of quality and distinction.
For decades, Galrão’s expertly crafted Portuguese stones have caught the eye of global industry leaders, gracing iconic projects like the Louvre Museum, the Queen Mary II ship, and luxurious yacht and residential interiors. With a focus on sustainable and innovative transformation processes and an unwavering commitment to quality, we have earned our reputation as trusted partners. Our skilled team delivers tailored solutions that capture each client’s vision, celebrating the heritage and value of the exceptional stones that define who we are.
Set in the picturesque area of Pardais near Vila Viçosa, the Fonte da Moura quarry is renowned for its fine and medium-grained crystalline marble, celebrated for its beauty and versatility. Among its notable varieties are Rosa Aurora, distinguished by its pinkish-brown veins, and Amadeus, known for its striking black and bluish-grey hues that create an elegant contrast. Spanning 30,000m², Fonte da Moura is the Galrão Group’s most active quarry, producing 4,000m³ annually and ensuring a steady supply of premium materials for large-scale projects worldwide.
Located just 30 kilometers from Lisbon in Sintra, the Pêro Pinheiro factory is the Galrão Group’s largest facility. Covering 9,000 m² of enclosed space and featuring 30,000 m² of storage along with a dedicated showroom, this facility boasts comprehensive infrastructure for processing and finishing various types of natural stone, with a particular focus on both local and imported marble.
Situated in Monção in northern Portugal, this factory is nestled in the heart of the country’s main granite region. Its proximity to the largest quarries in the area enables a production capacity of around 3,000 m³ of granite per year.
With a covered area of 2,400 m² and an annual handling capacity of 40,000 m², the Galrão warehouse in Porto is strategically located near the Port of Leixões—the largest port facility in northern Portugal and one of the most significant in the country. This prime location ensures efficient logistics for both national and international markets, enhancing our ability to deliver materials efficiently and reliably.
We have invested in solar panel installations at our two factories, ensuring that a significant proportion of the energy used comes from renewable sources. It is projected that 45% of the energy consumed at the Pêro Pinheiro plant and 35% at the Monção plant will be generated by these installations. Our commitment to sustainability also extends to mobility, with the gradual introduction of electric vehicles into our fleet, reducing emissions of harmful gases.
With an investment of €430,000 in the construction of a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) and an internal water reuse circuit, we are enhancing the efficiency of our water resource management. This initiative allows us to recycle water used in production processes, reducing waste and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.
Respect for the environment goes hand in hand with innovation. Guided by this principle, we created STOME to transform natural stone waste from our quarries into a model of circular economy. Leveraging 70 years of experience, technology, and creativity, STOME offers unique patterns that adapt to various spaces, promoting resource reuse and sustainability in interior design.
